MUDr. Anna Chaloupka, Ph.D.
Anna Chaloupka, MD, PhD, FHFA, is a cardiologist with long years of clinical experience and extensive expertise gained at leading medical institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Her main areas of specialisation include heart failure, cardiomyopathies and inherited heart conditions. However, she provides care across the full spectrum of cardiology, from prevention and early identification of cardiovascular risk factors to the diagnosis and long-term management of heart disease.
Curriculum Vitae
- She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno. She completed part of her doctoral studies and research at Harvard University in Boston. She further developed her expertise at internationally renowned cardiology centres, including Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Barts Heart Centre and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, where she completed a one-year Senior Clinical Fellowship focused on cardiomyopathies and continues to serve as an Honorary Consultant.
- In the Czech Republic, she also works at the First Department of Internal Medicine and Cardioangiology at St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno. She founded and leads a specialised outpatient clinic for patients with inherited cardiomyopathies, works in the heart failure and transplant outpatient clinic, and also cares for patients with acute heart failure. She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, and holds European certifications in echocardiography and heart failure.
- She is a member of expert committees of the Czech Society of Cardiology and scientific committees of the European Society of Cardiology focusing on dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She regularly lectures at Czech and international congresses and is the author of numerous scientific publications. In recognition of her work in the field of heart failure, she was awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of the Heart Failure Association (FHFA) of the European Society of Cardiology.
- She is the founder and director of the Cardiomyopathy Foundation, which helps patients and their families better understand and manage life with heart muscle disease. She has also applied her medical expertise as a physician during a humanitarian mission in Ethiopia.
In her practice, she combines a high level of medical expertise with an individual and compassionate approach. She places great emphasis on listening carefully to her patients, clearly explaining their diagnosis and treatment options, and making decisions together. She believes that high-quality cardiology care should not only treat existing heart disease, but also identify risks at an early stage and help prevent cardiovascular conditions whenever possible.
