• Award of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic for extraordinary results in medical research and development in 2016.
• The best medical book for 2011 awarded by the Czech Medical Society and the Czech Endocrinological Society. Fundamentals of Clinical Obesity, Grada, main author: V. Hainer. Aldhoon Hainer Irena: Chapter Childhood Obesity.
• The most valuable original work of Czech authors in the field of paediatric endocrinology published in a foreign journal in 2006, 2007 and 2016 awarded by the Children's Endocrinological Society.
• Second place in the fundamental science section within the 3rd Hradec Králové Medical Postgraduate Conference, Hradec Králové, 2006.

Research interests:

• Genetic aspects of obesity, the role of infection in obesity and diabetes, metabolic syndrome in obese children and adolescents, glucose homeostasis in overweight individuals, eating habits and health complications of obesity, type 1 diabetes
