MUDr. Alena Baňasová, Ph.D.
A part of the Canadian Medical team since 2018
When you wake up after a surgery, the first thing you probably see are the eyes of an anaesthesiologist who has been watching over your health and wellbeing throughout the entirety of the procedure. At Canadian Medical, those eyes will often be mine, as I’m the chief anaesthesiologist.
Although I’ve been at my current post for a relatively short amount of time, I have many years of gruelling training and experience: Since the year 2000, I have been working at the anaesthesia and resuscitation clinic at the Motol University Hospital. This kind of experience all kinds of procedures and for almost all anesthesiological situations.
In addition to my clinical work, I also focus on research and educating future doctors. I work at the Second Faculty of Charles University in Prague. The combination of scientific work and clinical practice in operating rooms offers a strong synergy with my field, allowing me to immerse myself deep into my work. It gives a person more expertise in both practice and theory, and it also allows you, as a scientist, to be more weary in your practice and have more solutions down your sleeve. I am also proud to be a published researcher in top international journals such as the American Journal of Physiology or Physiological Research.
