Revolutionary pulmonary examination at our YMCA clinic

The department of allergology at the YMCA clinic newly use the unique TremoFlo device to perform a pulmonary assessment. The patient breathes into the device while at rest, which compared to the “forced exhalation manoeuvre”, means that the results are completely independent of the patient's efforts. This means that even small children or clients with a severe cough can be examined.
"We use the device mainly in the diagnosis of asthma," says the head of the allergology department Dr. Martin Hospodka. According to him, the examination is unique mainly due to its high sensitivity. "We haven't had such a precise method yet, so we can detect asthma in much earlier stages," he says. Sensitivity also allows precise medication prescriptions, where a minimum amount of medication can be prescribed. Furthermore, the adequacy of treatment can be assessed very accurately and it can be detected at a time when asthma clients may be at risk. The device also serves to quickly rule out asthma as the cause of a severe cough. The whole spectrum of lung pathologies can be diagnosed using this device. "In terms of diagnostics, this is truly a revolutionary device," concludes Dr. Hospodka.
