How is the procedure carried out?
The procedure is carried out under local or mild general anesthesia. The back surface of the ear is loosened and the local muscle tissue is adjusted. Then, the cartilage of the ear is adjusted and fixed in its new position, at a different angle. With the help of this new fixation, the earlobes sit better (closer) in relation to the head. The scars are not visible because they are located behind the visible earlobe. After they are healed, they are barely visible. The procedure usually lasts no more than one hour.
How long does recovery take?
Due to the fact that ear cartilage is not very sensitive, the procedure is not painful. For approximately two weeks following surgery, bandaging is applied and the patient must pay greater attention to personal hygiene to make sure that the wound does not get infected. At night, it is best to protect the earlobes using a special headband for a period of six weeks. Additionally, you should not carry out any more demanding physical activity for a period of three weeks. Following this period, a normal lifestyle can be implemented. The earlobes, ones attached, will remain so permanently.
