Exchanging pediatric experience
After two years, Canadian Medical welcomed again a group of Canadian doctors of various specializations (predominantly so-called family doctors) lead by Dr. István (Steve) Szarka. He works as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (Department of Family Medicine ) at the McMaster University in Canada's Ontario province.
The group was guided through the Veleslavín Chateau by Mgr. Katarína Dujčíková, a specialist in caring for foreigners (Direct Billing Specialist). The Canadian doctors were introduced to the individual departments and spend the most amount of time talking to pediatrician MUDr. Jan Hrdlička, CSc. The discussed topics included the use of insulin pumps, diabetes injections for children, childhood obesity, psychological difficulties in children, parents' consent or refusal to vaccination, the extent of antibiotic treatment and the overall scope of healthcare.
After the tour and a group photo in front of the premises, the group moved to the meeting room. Here, they were treated with refreshments and shown a presentation which outlined future plans as well as new services that the clinic implemented since their last visit (pediatric cardio-center, healthcare coordination, electronic patient intake form, pharmacy and its e-shop as well the opening of the Prague 5 branch (2017) along with a new logo).
Canadian Medical News and Plans
The doctors also met with the Managing Director and Lead Doctor of Canadian Medical, MUDr. Barbara Taušová, MBA. She introduced the clinic's planned projects for 2018.
- New branch at the Waltrovka building complex
In 2018, Canadian Medical will open a branch in the protected Walter building located in the unique Waltrovka building complex in Prague's Jinonice district. The facility will house leading specialists who will also be able to carry out surgeries at its two modern, fully-equipped surgery rooms. These are multidisciplinary in nature with a focus on orthopedics, surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, gastroenterology and dental surgery.
- New branch at the beautiful Hadovka summer-house
From January 2018, Canadian Medical will open a new branch in Prague 6 at the Hadovka summer-house which previously housed the Canadian Embassy in Prague. This two-story 450 m2 building is a continuation and addition to the Veleslavín Chateau. Patients will be able to make use of medical services including pediatrics, gynecology, a maternity clinic, orthopedics, physiotherapy, rehabilitation as well as other fields. Patients can also use the Medical Concierge service here.
- Move from the Veleslavín Chateau in the autumn of 2018
In September 2018, after 20 years Canadian Medical will move from the Veleslavín Chateau into a modern building complex of AFI Vokovice located close to the existing facility with a convenient transport location. The company will leave its existing headquarters located at the Veleslavín Chateau and will make use of new premises offering greater capacity, better transport accessibility and proximity to buses, trams, trains as well as the metro.
New medical care options in Canada
The doctors also discussed the new options of providing medical care without the need of a personal visit by the patient (telemedicine) with MUDr. Barbara Taušová. In Canada, this service is already available but still only in some provinces and some specializations (dermatology, psychiatry, home care and healthcare counseling)
The Canadian doctors showed intense interest in the Czech medical system. They were fascinated by the clinic, its equipment, kind personnel, a clean and pleasant environment and the extent of medical care available to patients.
