The Prenatal Ultrasound Diagnosis Center and the Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Defects Center at CM offer the following:
Specialized ultrasound examination of the fetus
Future mothers can book their visit and arrange a prenatal cardiac examination of the fetus. It is a specialized ultrasound examination that tries to identify any congenital heart defects of a child; vascular system disorders, fetal-placental circulation as well as any heart beat deviations. An important part of the examination is also a standard biometry check and a comprehensive and detailed ultrasound examination to rule out any other serious congenital defects.
The examination takes 20 minutes and is not invasive in nature. It is carried out with a special ultrasound machine and requires no previous preparation.
Comprehensive cardiac examinations of children and follow-up cardiac examinations
This comprehensive and non-invasive, clinical, outpatient echocardiography examination of children is aimed at those children suffering from congenital heart defects as newborns all the way to their adulthood. Further, we also offer outpatient monitoring of children with a confirmed congenital heart defect with follow-up care at the Pediatric Cardiac Center at the Motol University Hospital. We also offer long-term outpatient monitoring of children after congenital heart defect surgeries.
The outpatient examination takes 30 minutes (follow-up examination only 20 minutes), is painless and there is no need for any medication to calm down the child. There is also no need for any previous preparation.
