The Waltrovka clinic provides premium medical care services in the field of one-day surgery (single day surgery). Could you explain how the provided care differs from the current standard?
It is difficult to answer this when the standard is not defined. I would therefore say that we simply aim to provide our clients with the best possible care which can be seen through factors such as the atmosphere and setting of the clinic itself, the professionalism of our staff, the range of medical services offered, our approach towards the patient and the organization of the various medical services.
Let’s begin with the doctors and the medical services. What can the patients expect?
First of all, we hand-pick experienced surgeons with extended experience to become part of our team. These members must truly have experience with modern techniques and should be fully aware of the newest trends currently transforming their respective fields. We strive to provide the best work conditions possible for our doctors as well. This then manifests itself in two ways. First of all, a surgeon will not carry out more than five surgeries on a single day. This is a maximum amount as excess workload will affect their performance. We have the best tools available which is not only applied during the procedures themselves but also makes it easier for the surgeon to work with the tools provided. We plan surgeries in such a way that an expert in the given problem carries out the given surgery. When it involves knee surgery for example, a specialized knee orthopedist is chosen. Patients can of course choose their surgeon, but we always suggest a surgeon that is best professionally suited for their specific problem.
You mentioned the equipment. How is the clinic equipped? Do you have some unique equipment present?
There are two surgery rooms (operating rooms) and a room with three post-surgery monitoring beds. The clinic specializes in one-day surgery and modern minimally-invasive surgical methods which are less stressful for patients. The equipment reflects this specialization. We have an endoscopic tower for orthopedic surgeries, an endoscopic tower for laparoscopic surgeries as well as a unit for hysteroscopy purposes. The most modern piece of equipment which we invested in is the newest available C-Arm, which is a piece of equipment which uses X-Rays to visualize the region where the surgery is taking place. The equipment which we use has been introduced to the market just one year ago and is beneficial for the patients as it emits minimum radiation. This type is the only unit in the Czech Republic and only one of a handful across Europe.
How are the rooms equipped?
At Waltrovka, there are 9 brand new rooms with their own facilities, TV, fridge and Wi-Fi connection. It resembles more a hotel room than a standard hospital room. The nine rooms are always staffed by two nurses.
Canadian Medical focuses not just on treatment itself, but also on the organization of medical care services. How does it work in terms of surgery?
Each patient has a healthcare coordinator who will plan everything with him/her. The coordinator will agree the surgery time, will explain the next steps and provide the patient with informed consent documents, also ensuring that all the pre-surgery examinations are carried out in time. The patient has access to one telephone number to his/her coordinator and can always reach out whenever the need arises.
What types of procedures can patients expect from you?
We are a one-day surgery center so the procedures we provide are such where the patient can leave the clinic within 24 hours. We carry out general surgery, orthopedic surgery, gynecological surgery as well esthetic surgery.
How are surgery dates determined and what are the available financing options?
Waltrovka does not have a contractual relationship with Czech insurance companies which means that the medical services we provide need to paid for. Due to the exceptional level of quality of the provided services, it provides an acceptable price model which is accessible to a wide spectrum of patients. If your budget allows for a standard holiday to Egypt, it will also allow for a procedure at our clinic. We are able to carry out surgery including all its pre-surgery examinations within a three week period.
