Whether the smell is small or greater, this is always associated with paradentosis. “If somebody has brushed their teeth and does not have tartar, then he/she cannot have foul breath,” says CMC’s dentist MDDr. Zdeněk William Pelc.
The smell can also originate from the tooth itself and not just pockets of inflammation in the gums. Unrepaired and unsealed tooth decay can give off very unpleasant odor. After the removal of the decay and its reparation, the smell is eliminated.
At the pharmacy, you can buy tablets to limit bad breath, but these only solve the “social” aspect of the problem. If you experience bad breath for extended periods of time, do not hesitate to visit your dentist.
